NAFA is pleased to partner Japan Creative Centre of the Embassy of Japan to co-organise JAPAN: Kingdom of Characters, a touring exhibition by the Japan Foundation featuring over 70 exhibits and videos of Japanese manga and anime characters including the widely-known Hello Kitty, Ultraman and Gundam. Immortalised in the universe of characters that had spawned fads, die-hards and unique sub-cultures, these adored characters reflect the kaleidoscopic reality of Japan’s society and continue to capture imagination of the world. The exhibition highlights their influence on Japanese society, popular culture and historical development through the decades.
